Ugly Truth (Beautiful Lie)

His kisses seem to whisper “I love you”,
though they grow quieter as time goes by.
Note on flowers reads: “Thinking of you”,
but plucked flowers they wither & die.
Do you want to hear the ugly truth
or shall I sing you a beautiful lie?

CHORUS
He loves you dearly,
only you clearly,
eyes will never stray.
His tender touch,
you mean so much,
more & more each day.
He’s yours forever,
always together,
there’s no sorrowful surprise.
Catch them as they fall for you –
a bouquet of beautiful lies.

His smiles suggest he’s happy here,
but his smiles never reach his eyes.
His touch declares he holds you dear,
it’s just another well-worn disguise.
Do you want to hear the ugly truth
or shall I sing some beautiful lies?

CHORUS

Well, he must be working late again,
it happens more and more each day.
Will you turn to face the ugly truth
or play pretend till he fades away?
Do you want to hear the ugly truth
or shall I sing you a beautiful lie?

CHORUS

    1. Haha. 😀 Think in that situation I’d sooner know the truth/take the red, deal with the fallout (even if it’s painful) & move on. Guess I’m not sensible. Sometimes when you live a lie there’s a nagging feeling that things aren’t right – even if you can’t put your finger on why that is. The nagging feeling can be enough to drive you mad even before you’ve worked out what the source of it is. I’ve had a close-up view on a relationship which was clearly broken a long time before they actually broke up.
