I’ve decided that once a week, I’ll reblog a poem or story written by one of my Followers and explain why I opted to reblog it. In terms of selecting the first writer to reblog, there could only be one: it had to be Snehal Rawal.
Snehal Rawal was my first Follower. Before I had any faith in my writing, she did (I still have some days where I doubt my writing because I have issues…so many issues). I’m pleased to say that she also went on to become my first (but hopefully not last) true “writer friend”. In the words of E.B. White: “It is not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer”. Snehal is also the first person I thanked using their real name on my Welcome page.
A number of my poems and stories were inspired by either her writing, conversations with her or just her. There’s even a few that I’m ready to admit to being inspired by Snehal, such as “The Tunnel” (a poem about friendship and overcoming adversity which hasn’t been posted here yet), “Lean On” and “Night of the Living Dreams“. The latter was a response to this poem and a subsequent conversation with Snehal about dreams dying. It was my weird way of trying to bring dreams back to life and saying to keep hoping.
Due to WiFi issues at Snehal’s end, I still don’t know whether she liked the rhyming reply or whether it was too dark and weird for her. Erm…guess I’ll hope for the former and suspect the latter. 😉 Oh well. It’s the thought that counts and the thought was a warm and fuzzy one.
If you only Follow one writer this week, please Follow Snehal Rawal. However, if you Follow two writers this week then if you haven’t already done so, I’d appreciate it if you Followed me. Thank you. 🙂
She was all about sun shine and rainbows,
While I was about dark clouds and grey skies.
She was every possibility,
While I was the failure, the lies.
I… was someone else’s story.
She was laughter and happiness,
While I was love purgatory.
She wanted dresses and boots;
And to catch her dreams
Like raindrops in a dew.
And I still wanted London.
And New York.
And maybe Canada for a year or two.
