I walk barefoot by the riverbank,
through grasses long & green.
Feeling fears fade far away,
carried further downstream.
No clouds up above you,
blue skies seem so serene.
Though thunder will crash again,
today I enjoy the calm in-between.
As I look upon your face,
I almost see the one I loved years ago.
In our days before your dark clouds,
before bitingly cold winds did blow.
I know I can’t get that back –
what’s been seen can’t be unseen.
Still, today I’ll enjoy it for what it is –
enjoy the calm in-between.
