Beauty’s Beast

Soft of voice, still sharp of teeth.
Fangs find flesh, rip rend beneath.
Clawed hands hold a poisoned quill.
Words weapons wielded, strike to kill.

Yet you come close, I wag spiked tail.
My love for you, it will never fail.
You see through my monstrous disguise
as I see beauty before my eyes.

Your kisses can both send me wild
and calm the beast, turn meek, mild.
Stay here with me for a little while.
Fanged mouth morphs to sweetest smile.

Hold hands gently within my paws.
I may be a monster but I’m yours.

    1. Thank you for your feedback. I’m pleased that you like it. 🙂

Regarding your Poetry-Block, have you tried any of the Daily Prompts posted on blogs? Sometimes they can help. Was toying with giving them a go myself.

      1. When I see those prompts, I don’t even think of poetry. For some reason, the daily prompts have not been popping up on my reader or mail inbox.

    1. Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad you like the poem. There’s a bit of myself and my fiancee in the poem (and clearly a lot of Beauty & the Beast). As someone with self-esteem issues (and who was falsely accused of things during a nasty custody battle last year…I finally won & my ex was actually found to be an abuser but wow, what a long & horrid battle it was), I occasionally have thoughts of myself as being a monster. Thankfully my fiancee makes me feel much better about myself. I was in an abusive relationship for over 10 years though, so still have a lot of scars to heal.

As you liked this one, I recommend reading “Sleeping Beauty & M.E” (https://philipcraddockwriter.wordpress.com/2015/09/14/sleeping-beauty-m-e/) & “Running Man: Love & Other Marathons” (https://philipcraddockwriter.wordpress.com/2015/12/12/running-man-love-other-marathons/).

Also, I’ve recently found myself in a rather desperate situation. My hours have been dramatically reduced & I really need to find another source of income (writing, customer support, billing support, data entry…whatever) but it has to be a work from home role, as my fiancee has a number of disabilities & I’m her carer. If you hear of any legitimate opportunities, any chance you could let me know? Hope you don’t mind me asking. I’ve added an article to my site about the situation here: https://philipcraddockwriter.wordpress.com/2017/04/14/authors-note-now-for-hire-accepting-donations/.

Thanks again for reading my poem & taking the time to comment. 🙂

  1. Hey Philip!

Glad that writing helps you to be expressive! I’m actually a student from Singapore and I can’t do much … BUT I do know about this US online based news organization.. I guess you can write your articles in 8 different languages and have a world wide audience.. there are multiple categories to fit in your writing.. There pay you for the articles you write… it is good payment as long as you have good readership! I have recently joined this organization as a writer.. it is a job which doesn’t require you to follow any operating hours or consistent commitment.. It might be good for you! Check out my articles under my blog in the category News/Lifestyle.. I have linked my articles to the blog entries… Blasting News in the organization! Good luck! Keep writing and inspiring!
