Welcome

Hello! Thank you for visiting my site. Here you’ll find a small selection of my poems & stories. Hope you enjoy reading them. If you have any questions about any of my pieces or just want to say “Hi”, please do use the Comments section.

Unused to talking about myself but on the off-chance that you want to know me as well as my poetry and stories, I’ll try. Who is Philip Craddock? Well, I’m a contradiction. I’m both confident and insecure. The light and the dark. An optimistic pessimist. Haunted by my past as I hope for a bright future. But most of all I’m a romantic, a dreamer, a dad and a writer who tries to do more good than bad. Apologies if you’re no clearer as to who I am after reading this. I’m still on a voyage of discovery myself and part of why I write is to find out more about who I was, who I am and who I want to be.

Now the superficial specifics that are easier to discuss. I’m a Leo. Rawr. I’m also a Disney fan and love Studio Ghibli at least as much. Most of Tim Burton’s films are amazing (skip his version of Planet of the Apes). I also love foreign films…especially Bollywood and Japanese movies. In terms of writers, I love so many of them! Some of my favourites are Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare, Mark Billingham, Roald Dahl, Dr Seuss, Neil Gaiman, Jo Nesbo and many, many more. My other interests include music, theatre, travel (love the sea and beaches…both which appear a number of times in my poems), hiking and running…when I don’t actually have anything that I’m running away from at least. If there’s anything else you’d like to know about me, please do ask.

All poems & stories here are work in progress pieces, so don’t be surprised if a piece changes from one visit to the next. If you’re lucky, they may even change for the better.

Thank you to Foxy for inspiring me to write again. Without you, this site may not even exist. A big thank you also to Snehal for making me believe more in my writing & myself – breakfast is on me.

    1. Running was something I only got into recently. I recently ran in the London Marathon for Coram (children’s charity in the UK). I tried to pick the most unlikely activity for me in order to raise as much sponsorship as I could due to the shock factor. It worked but the more I trained, the more I found I actually enjoyed running. Nice to meet you too. 🙂

    1. Hi there. 🙂 Thanks for popping by to say hello. If you have any questions, please do ask. And if you haven’t already done so, you could Follow my site. It’s usually updated on a daily basis.

I actually had two stalkers in real-life once but as stalkers go they were relatively nice ones. Hmm…perhaps that’s a good topic for another poem. We’ll see.

  1. Hi Philip, I’ve come visiting from Jacqueline’s house party. I see a Storm Trooper helmet there next to you. My home is filled with Star Wars fans. And I note you love Dr Seuss. Hey, so do I. In fact I have been inspired by his words to try my hand at creating some of my own in his style – this is one of them if you care to pop over and have a visit during this weekend shindig -http://soulgifts.com.au/2016/03/14/snap-crackle-pop/

    1. Hi Ghostmmnc. Pleased to meet you. 🙂 It was my first blog party – naturally shy both online and in real-life & wasn’t sure what to expect but everyone seemed very friendly. 🙂 Will try to make it to other similar events.
